HOULTON – June R. Bone, 73, of Houlton, died Friday, March 31, with her family at her side.

She was born Feb. 20, 1933, in Millinocket, the daughter of Melvin E. and Doris L. (Grass) Walls. June graduated from Brewer High School in 1951.

After 16 years of being the best mom ever, she decided to go to beauty school and graduated with honors, still retaining her license until her death.

June had many hobbies, including cooking with Paula Dean, knitting on her knitting machines, vegetable gardening and tracking her genealogy to the first English-speaking settler on the Miramachi River, William Davidson, as well to the first settlers of Forest City, Alex Walls and to her Scottish heritage.

She was one of the first modern-day fly-fishing women members at the Penobscot Salmon Club.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, R. Lewis Bone of Houlton; three children, Debra A. B. Garibotto and her husband, John, of Florida and Houlton, Thomas N. Bone of Windham, and Susan V. Bone and her fianc, Dan Pomerleau, of Mechanic Falls; four grandchildren, Sonya, Ryan, Amanda and Sara; one great-grandson, Patrick “P.J.”; one sister, Louise Russell of Brunswick; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Herbert Graham.
