MONMOUTH – A spring eight-week quilting class will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning Wednesday, April 5, at the Henry L. Cottrell School.

The class will feature two patterns, “Shoo Fly” and “Hour Glass,” using squares, triangles and rectangles. It can be made into any size quilt, from pillow to king.

Seniors auction

AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Hasty Community Center. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m. Members should bring a bag lunch. After lunch there will be a food auction with Roy Tassinari as auctioneer. Tickets will be on sale for the April 19 lasagna dinner.

Joyce Poole, trip chairwoman, has a trip scheduled for Monday, May 15, a mystery day trip to Lucianos, Lake Pearl, Wrentham, Mass.; cost, $71, with payment due April 19.

On June 12 13, there will be a trip to see Jim Nabors at the Mohegan Sun Arena. For more information, call Poole at 784-3429 or Doris Michael at 782-6962. Trips are for everyone.

The club met March 15 with President Caroline Chapman presiding. There were 84 present. Bingo was played after a boiled dinner prepared by the Park and Rec Dept. Attendance winners were Aileen Harnden and Annette Lee; pot of gold, Bernice Mushhlit, Elsie Whitney and Gabriel Gorten.

Western Maine Transportation Services is providing trips for seniors on the second Friday of each month. The bus will leave Pettengill Park at 9 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. for a $5 fee, which includes the return ticket charge. Those going will be dropped off at the Maine Mall or the Christmas Tree Shop. Legion to elect

LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Slovak Meeting Room, Avery Street.

The agenda will include the report of the nominating committee for the 2006-2007 Legion year and election of officers. Nominations from the floor will be accepted. All members, prospective members and active-duty personnel are invited.

AUBURN – A free educational seminar, “Exploring the Boundaries of Multiple Sclerois,” will be held Thursday, April 6, at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch, Great Falls View Mill Pond Room, 14 Great Falls Plaza.

Registration will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. with a program, complimentary dinner and question-and-answer period from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Featured speakers will be T. Edward Collins, DO, Falmouth Neurology and MS Clinic; David Burke, MD, Neurology Associates, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center; and Michael Venn, host/patient advocate.

Baby shower

LEWISTON – Advocates for Children is hosting a Community Baby Shower, and all pregnant or newly parenting teens and young adults are invited. The event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the YMCA Teen Center, 62 Turner St. Call 783-3990 to register.

There will be games, snacks and door prizes. Dads and children are also encouraged to attend. Donations of new baby items are being accepted.
