Poland – Raymond A. Coleman, 91, of Poland died Sunday, April 2, at his home.

He was born in Mechanic Falls on April 6, 1914, the son of Daniel R. and Lucy Ann Steward Coleman. He was a graduate of Mechanic Falls High School in 1933. He married Marjorie Cox on May 10, 1940. He worked as a machinist for the Bates Mill in Lewiston for many years and retired in 1973.

He was a member of the Mechanic Falls Methodist Church and the Minot United Methodist Church on Minot Corner. He was a Masonic member of Tyrian Lodge 73 in Mechanic Falls for 61 years. He was a member of Oxford Grange 46 for 72 years. He held many offices including past master of Oxford and Pomona Grange. He also belonged to the state and national Grange. He was a member of the Boghooters Snowmobile Club.

The Coleman family had a camp on Green Pond in Oxford for 56 years and enjoyed many family gatherings and cookouts at the camp. He loved camping, fishing, and just being in the outdoors. He lived the majority of his life in Mechanic Falls and moved to Poland upon retirement from the Bates Mill.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marjorie, of Poland; a son, Winfield and his wife, Carol Coleman, of Auburn; a daughter, Geraldine and husband, Wesley Rogers, of Gray; daughter-in-law, Brenda Coleman of Mechanic Falls; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel and her husband, Francis Conant, of Mechanic Falls; a sister-in-law, Ruth Coleman of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a beloved son, Geraldine’s twin brother, Gerald Coleman; one brother, Roy Coleman; and two sisters, Methyl Gagne and Myrtle Bisbee.
