LEWISTON – Josephine M. Jordan, 82, of Buckfield died at Central Maine Medical Center April 4.

She was born in Lisbon on May 29, 1923, the daughter of Joseph and Sadie (Witham) Foster and had attended Monmouth Academy. She had worked at Besseys Bottling, Maine Apple Growers in Buckfield, Withingtons in Minot and operated a dairy farm.

She was a member of the Buckfield Senior Citizens, loved to play beano and would be ready to go with anyone at anytime to play. She also liked to play cards, attend street rod shows, go camping in Rangeley with Bill and Wanda and especially liked to work in the greenhouse with Mona Lessard. She was a very openminded, caring and understanding lady. She always thought of others first and loved her family unconditionally. She loved a good joke, even if it was at her expense.

She married Alred Jordan in 1941. He died in 1988, at which time she lived with her daughter, Alma and former son-in-law, Calvin Ames and their son, Jared.

She is survived by three sons, William Jordan and his wife, Wanda, of Buckfield, Michael Jordan and his wife, Betsy, of Hebron and James Jordan and his fiance, April Buck, of Buckfield; two daughters, Elaine Damon and her husband, Skip, of Buckfield and Alma Ames and her companion, John Bickford, of Buckfield; one brother, Roberts Foster, of Auburn; two sisters, Mabel Paradis of Florida and Louise Merrick of Greene; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; extended family members, Bonnie and Jake Coates and their son, Nick of Turner, Mona and Paul Lessard and their son, Ben, of Buckfield, the Ames family of Lewiston and Sabattus and Linda Paxman and family of Buckfield.

She was predeceased by her parents; one son, Arthur “Skip” Jordan; one sister, Laura Libby; one brother, Fred Foster; grandchildren, Todd Jordan, Lisa Jordan and Chris Lessard; and close friends, Laura DeCoster and Velma Ellingwood.
