LISBON – The Philip W. Sugg Middle School Student Council is growing in membership due to the work of the facility adviser, Veronica Koza, and is planning several events.

The council has embarked upon a Penny Slam project to benefit the SeniorsPlus Meals on Wheels Program. The Penny Slam will run through Friday, April 7. The seventh and eighth grade classrooms have challenged each other to raise the most money during the program.

Also through April 7, Student Council members are running three special event days: Hat Day, PJ Day and Beach Day to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Council members will ask teachers if they are willing to “swap” places for the morning classes on Tuesday, April 11. Students will spend time with teachers to prepare lessons that will be taught on that day. The teachers will have the option of keeping the student teacher for the morning classes or for the entire day.

“Swap Day” will offer an opportunity for those students considering a career in education. The day will promote education as a career choice and help establish a positive relationship between student and teacher.

For more information on council events and activities, contact Veronica Koza by e-mailing vkoza@union30.org or Community Resource Coordinator Monica Millhime, monica@union30.org or call the school at 353-3055.
