AUBURN – The nation’s 36th celebration of Earth Day will occur on Saturday, April 22, and Stewardship Week will be held from April 30 to May 7.
Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District has invited the public to join the district’s first event, celebrating the success of “Making Conservation Work for You During 2005,” at its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 20.
The evening will begin with a buffet meal at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, followed by an awards program and special speaker from Maine Forest Service addressing “What’s in the Future for Maine’s Forest and Their Many Values?”
Reservations are $18.50 a person and are required by Friday, April 14. Call Jane Heikkinen at the office at 753-9400, ext. 400, to sign up.
