NORWICH, Conn. (AP) – Brandon Moss drove in two runs in the fourth inning to lift the Portland Sea Dogs to a 4-2 win over the Connecticut Defenders Sunday afternoon.
Portland (1-2) took advantage of two Connecticut errors to load the bases and eventually score three runs in the fourth.
The Defenders (2-1) were able to get one run back in the bottom of the fourth when Nate Schierholtz scored on a fielder’s choice. Connecticut tacked on one more in the seventh, but the Sea Dogs countered with an insurance run in the eighth to seal the win.
