LIVERMORE FALLS – Two men were charged Sunday in connection with a burglary Friday at 31 Church St.

Police officer Joe Sage arrested Elmer Norton, 19, of the Livermore Falls area, on a charge of felony burglary and Lt. Thomas Gould summoned Justin Jackson, 20, of Florida, on a charge of possessing stolen property, Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.

Sage and officer Steve Gould responded to the reported burglary at the house at 7:01 p.m. Friday, Steward said. Entrance to the home had been forced, he said.

Officers collected evidence and a list of what was missing, he said.

While on foot patrol about 1 a.m. Saturday, Sage and officer Adam Dempsey stopped three males and Sage questioned them about burglaries in the area.

While Sage talked to them, he noticed property on one of the males that was stolen from the Church Street residence, Steward said.

The item was identified by the victim as missing from the house, he said.

The investigation is ongoing, the chief said.

Norton was taken to Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn and was being held on $1,000 cash bail Monday.

Gould said Monday the burglary is not connected with others that have occurred in Franklin County.
