Sox are focus

FARMINGTON – Spring officially arrives for many on opening day at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox. To celebrate, Franklin Memorial Hospital will host Red Sox Nation Day in coordination with the team’s season debut at home on Tuesday, April 11, when the Sox take on the Toronto Blue Jays.

Visitors and staff will be greeted at the entrances, given a Red Sox schedule and a box of Coco Crisp[ies] cereal. And in the cafeteria, traditional ballpark food will be available for lunch.

Baseball and sports medicine books, articles and pictures will be on display in the library.

At 2 p.m. baseball fans are invited to stop by to watch the game on the big screen in the Bass Room.

Lodge meeting

LIVERMORE – Charity Rebekah Lodge of Livermore Falls will meet Wednesday, April 12, at the Ralph Wright Memorial Building, 284 Federal Road.

A taste party lunch will be served as 12:30 p.m. followed by a meeting at 1:30.

Entertainment will be “What’s It?” Members should bring items and something for the lunch.

Bottle drive

JAY – Students in French classes at Jay High School are raising money for a three-day trip to Quebec.

There will be a bottle drive on Saturday, April 15, in the Jay area. To donate call Mrs. Rier, French teacher, 897-4336, ext. 200. Leave a message with address and they will be picked up.

Cemetery meeting

CHESTERVILLE – The Webster Cemetery Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the cemetery and 7 p.m. at the Chesterville Town Hall on Monday, April 17.

Retired teachers

WILTON – The Franklin County Unit of Retired Teachers will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, at the East Wilton Grange Hall.

Barb and Pete Fredericks will discuss the Gold Leaf Senior College. For lunch reservations, call Carolyn Parr at 778-4282.

Cemetery tour

NEW VINEYARD – The New Vineyard Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in the Historical Room.

Cemetery concerns will be discussed with members of the Cemetery Committee following a tour of the cemeteries.

The public is welcome to attend.

Seniors meeting

LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens met at Murray Hall on April 3 with 42 members and a guest, Don Spear, present. Chairwoman Shirley Couture opened the meeting and Mary Groleau led in singing “Faith of Our Fathers.”

Members welcomed back Joan Lauzier, Dot Wilson and Lorraine Ellingwood. Spear, a humorist, entertained with stories.

Sign-up is under way for the SeniorsPlus monthly meal to be served on Monday, April 24. SeniorsPlus will also serve an Easter meal at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 14. Menu will be baked ham with sauce, whipped potato, peas and carrots, coleslaw, dinner roll and pineapple upside-down cake.

SeniorsPlus has scheduled a trip to Bailey’s Island on June 27, $57; and May 30, tour in Portland, $51.
