WESTBROOK – Elite All-Stars, a competition cheering squad featuring several local girls, won a U.S. Spirit National Championship in a two-day competition at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., on the weekend of March 24-26.
Three teams from the gym won the gold medal in their divisions.
“This has been the greatest moment of my life,” said Danielle Cleere of Leeds, who is joined at the award-winning gym by Ciresse Phinney of Lewiston and Kerrie Maguire of Gray.
“We worked hard and pulled it together as a team.”
The winning squads were presented with gold medals and championship jackets.
Elite’s senior open team consists of 26 girls from Maine and New Hampshire.
The gym will send teams to a regional championship meet at Six Flags in Agawam, Mass., later this month.
