LIVERMORE – The Livermore and Livermore Falls Republican town committees held a joint meeting March 7 at LakeShore where Livermore Falls resident L. Gary Knight announced his candidacy for the Maine House of Representatives District 81.

Knight said he looks forward to being a part of the new Republican majority in Augusta to bring change to a stagnant state economy and to create opportunities for young people to stay in state. Knight will run as a traditional candidate, rather than a tax-funded candidate.

Livermore Chairman Clint Boothby introduced the speaker, gubernatorial candidate Dave Emery of Rockland, who said his belief that Maine’s best days lie ahead. Emery said changes must be made immediately to stop the flow of the state’s greatest resource – its young people.

The meeting started with the Livermore committee holding a business meeting, while the Livermore Falls committee caucused. Chairman George Cummings, Vice Chairwoman Jeannine Wilkins, Treasurer Clayton Wagner and Secretary Darryl Brown lead the Livermore Falls Republican Town Committee.

The public is welcome to attend the next joint meeting of the committees on Tuesday, April 4, at LakeShore.
