LEWISTON – The YWCA of Central Maine hosted a Springtime Tea for the Y-ettes on March 21. The group gathered at the Wade Center for tea, stuffed berries and other goodies. The women wore their spring dresses and hats to hear a presentation from Laurie Ouellette of Sweet Pea Designs.

“We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of people dedicated to this YWCA,” said Anne Craigs, executive director. “Some of the Y-ettes have been members of our organization for decades. We try to have monthly programming that brings them together as a group.”

There have been several programs this year, including a Valentine’s Day luncheon when the children attending daycare at the YWCA made valentines.

The Y-ettes have traditionally been women who have been members of the YWCA for quite some time. The group has recently been rejuvenated.

“We want to make sure that our longest term members have programming that meets their needs. This is a very social group and they seem to love to come together for lunch,” said Kim Finnerty, assistant aquatics director.

The next Y-ette event is being planned for early May. To learn more about the YWCA programs and membership, call 795-4050.
