Easter service
PARIS – Silver Moore-Leamon will lead the Easter worship service at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, on Sunday, April 16. Her sermon topic at the 10 a.m. service will be “The Egg and I.”
The music will be by the choir and Forest Perkins, church organist. Renee Wales will direct the Sunday school. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome.
Finnish dinner
WEST PARIS – The annual membership dinner of the Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will be held one week later than usual due to Easter. It is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at the Heritage Center.
Relay rally
PARIS – Relay For Life of Oxford Hills Team Rally will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, South Paris. There will be raffles, door prizes and contests. Refreshments will benefit the 2006 Project Graduation. RSVP Tracey Frye at 743-7326 by Monday, April 24. The Relay For Life of Oxford Hills will be held Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3.
Church schedule
OXFORD – The Hosanna New Testament Church, 109 Schoolhouse Road, has announced a new schedule.
Sunday worship is at 10 a.m. with KIDS Church during the sermon. There is a staffed nursery. Sunday evening meetings are held at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday is Youth Night for middle school, high school and young adults. Home fellowship meetings are held at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesdays. There are monthly ladies fellowship and men’s meetings.

Crank phones
WOODSTOCK – While the Maine State Museum has a new exhibit on the old Bryant Pond Phone Co., the Woodstock Historical Society Museum has had an operational crank phone switchboard for years.
The last switchboard is in Augusta, but the Woodstock museum has another switchboard, donated by Eldon Hathaway, hooked up to four phones in the building.
There is also a poster, some old phone books, a book by Ruby Emery and other memorabilia on the system. Curator Larry Billings said, “I always knew if artifacts on the system were preserved in Bryant Pond, it would be up to our society to do it.”
The exhibit is one of the highlights of the museum. The museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays beginning in June.
