PARIS – Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice is partnering with Maine Veterans’ Home of South Paris to present a series of community educational programs on end-of-life care. The purpose is to help people understand their care options at the end of life, and learn how to access the information and services needed at the most difficult time in their lives.

Recognizing the need in the community for more information on end-of-life care, the organizations have developed a series of educational programs that will be held throughout the year.

The second program in the series is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, 477 High St. The program will focus on Alzheimer’s Disease and when hospice care can be of comfort to patients and their families to improve quality of life and provide added comfort.

Future topics will include “Pain and Symptom Management at End of Life” and “Grief and Loss: Coping with a Terminal Illness.” The programs will be helpful for people with a terminal illness, their friends and families and those who are in their later years of life.
