Rebekahs to meet

AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 17, at the Odd Fellows Hall, 50 Elm St., for snacks and a social time. During the meeting that will begin at 7 p.m. the Past Noble Grands and veteran members will be honored. The senior member, Arlene Hudson Simons, will be honored for 60 years of active membership.

Founder’s Day, the 187th anniversary of the founding of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Baltimore, Md., will be celebrated.

The living legacy program of the Rebekahs and Odd Fellows will also be part of the meeting.

VFW meeting

LISBON – VFW Post 9459 and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the post home, Route 196. The House Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m.

All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Agenda items will include second nominations and elections of officers, VOD/PP banquet and future events. For more information, call 353-2152.

Need volunteers

LEWISTON – MPBN’s Great TV Auction is just around the corner and the station needs more volunteers. The funds raised, about $500,000, will be used to provide programming to viewers in Maine, parts of New Hampshire and eastern Canada.

All the action will take place at the studio at 1450 Lisbon St. from April 21 to 30. There are a variety of jobs and hours. Volunteers are especially need in the evenings; and morning and afternoon shifts throughout the week in customer service and confirmation can use volunteers.

Distribution day

AUBURN – Auburn AC SERVE, a part of SERVE New England’s food and volunteer program, will hold Distribution Day from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 22, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance.

Registrations for April also will be taken. New participants in the SERVE, formerly SHARE, program are welcome.

FD open house

SABATTUS – The Sabattus Fire Department will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Central Station, 72 Main St. Activities for children will include the safety smoke house.

Scrapbooking

DURHAM – May Memoraniza, a day of scrapbooking, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Durham Congregational Church, South West Bend. The church is handicapped accessible.

There will be door prizes, raffles, goodie bags, supplies, help and ideas. Beginners are welcome. The $20 fee includes lunch. Registration is due by Friday, April 28. To register or for more information, call Pearl Scribner at 353- 4030.

It is is a fundraiser for the church, and checks should be made out to the church. Doors will open at 8 a.m.

Seniors meet

SABATTUS – The Sabattus Seniors met on April 6 for a meal of spaghetti and meatballs prepared by Tony Camardese and Bob Sutton. A short meeting was held, then the members played bingo.

Members will meet on Thursday, May 4. Chinese pie will be served prior to the meeting. Those wishing to attend are asked to sign up early by calling Sutton at 783-6955.

The following trips remain on the schedule:

June 12 and 13, Foxwoods Casino with overnight stay at the Comfort Inn in Mystic; evening meal and show at the Seaman’s Inn; following day after breakfast, Mohegan Sun with an afternoon show with Jim Nabors; $220 double occupancy.

Sept. 18 to 22, Pinegrove Ranch and Resort, five days and four nights of entertainment, daytime activities, all meals and including a side trip to the racino in Monticello, N.Y.; $499 double occupancy.
