Egg hunt set

EAST SUMNER – The Mother’s Community Club of Sumner will host the annual Easter egg hunt for children ages 2 to 12 from SAD 39, Hartford, Sumner and Buckfield at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at the East Sumner Congregational Church, Main Street.

Children are to bring their own basket and hunt for eggs and other treats, play games and meet the Easter Bunny. Refreshments will be served. It will be held rain or shine. For more information or to make a donation, call Lee Berry at 388-2181 evenings.

Club to meet

SOUTH PARIS – The X-tra Mile AVT Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the town office. It is open to the public, and new members are welcome.

Society to meet

SOUTH PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 20, for its first meeting of 2006 at the 77 High St. museum. Toymaker Hugh “Cubby” Swan of Locke Mills will present a program after a business meeting to be led by President Glenn Davis.

Swan has had many years of woodworking experience, including working in the 1930s at L.L. Tibbetts where wooden-jointed Walt Disney type cartoon characters were created for the toy market.

Swan made some characters of his own and wooden puzzles. He will have some of those on display. Light refreshments will be served after the program. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Spring cleanup

NORWAY – The Norway Recreation Department will hold the annual Community Spring Clean-Up at Lake Pennesseewassee Park from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 6. The work will consist of raking the public boat-landing area.

Lake Pennesseewassee Park is open to the public regardless of their residence. Participants are asked to bring gloves and rakes.

Those fulfilling community service requirements should bring paperwork and check in with Norway Parks and Recreation Director Deb Partridge when they arrive.

The deadline to register for softball and tee-ball is Monday, April 17. For more information, call Partridge at 743-6651.
