PARIS – A master tree training program will begin Tuesday, April 18, at the Oxford County Cooperative Extension office, 9 Olsen Road, South Paris.

A free six-week workshop will be offered for Oxford Hills residents interested in learning how to identify, plant and care for trees. The program, a project of the Norway Tree Committee, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through May 23.

Registration is limited and can be done up to Monday, April 17. The classes will cover soils, basic tree biology, tree identification, pruning, planting, insects and disease. Graduation will feature a tree-planting event in downtown Norway.

The program, featuring talks by several tree experts and field exercises, is intended to increase community awareness and appreciation for public trees. For more information call Norway arborist Tish Carr at 1-800-611-5118 or Gail Geraghty at 743-1998.
