KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Jimmy Conrad, making his season debut, scored on a header off a corner kick in the 4th minute to lead the Kansas City Wizards to a 1-0 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday night.

The Wizards (3-0-0) got their first shutout of the season and opened with three wins for the first time in franchise history.

On Conrad’s goal, Jack Jewsbury sent a corner kick toward the far post and the wind carried the ball away from the goal. However, Conrad, playing for the first time since having surgery to repair a double sports hernia on March 31, jumped high in the air and headed a high-arching shot from about 10-yards out.

New England goalkeeper Matt Reis couldn’t reach the ball, and defender Joe Franchino made a high leap but also couldn’t get to the ball, which went in just inside the upper left corner of the goal.
