Seniors meeting

OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20, at Market Square Restaurant, South Paris. Dinner will be chosen from the menu.

There will be an Easter hat parade featuring the prettiest, funniest and most original. Beano will be played if time permits. New members and guests are welcome.

Grange award

WEST PARIS – West Paris Grange 298 will hold a Community Citizen Award open house at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20. This year’s award will be presented to the Troopettes, led by Sylvia McCann. The women have sent care packages every month to the service men in Iraq.

Indoor yard sale

WATERFORD – An indoor yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22, in the Wilkins Community House basement at the foot of Plummer Hill Road. For more information, call Karen Fillebrown at 583-2320.

Church speaker

NORWAY – The Norway Unitarian Universalist worshipers will welcome church historian and ordained UU minister, the Rev. Peter Richardson to the pulpit on Sunday, April 23. Richardson has written several books about the Unitarian Church. He is retired and lives with his wife on the coast.

The service will begin at 11 a.m. at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St. Child care is provided.

A coffee hour will be held in the the downstairs concert hall after the service. All are invited.

Murder mystery

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Music and Performing Arts Association will perform a murder mystery by Agatha Christie, “And Then There Were None,” at the Norway Grange Hall, Whitman Street. Directed by Tom Littlefield, showtimes will be 8 p.m. April 27, 28, 29 and May 4, 5 and 6 and at 2 p.m. April 30 and May 7. Cost is $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and children under 12.

Bridge play

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met April 14 at the Fare Share Commons, Main Street, when a Howell movement was played.

Finishing first were Pete Cummings and Dick Allen with Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer tied with Bev Pelletier and Les Buzzell for second.

Another game will be held Friday, April 21. All bridge players are welcome, and a partner is guaranteed. For information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153 or cell 754-9153.

Town meeting

BRIDGTON – The Lakes Region Communities Mobilizing for Change on Alcohol Task Force will hold a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the Bridgton Municipal Building. Presenters will include Attorney General Steve Rowe, State Rep. Richard Sykes and Bridgton Police Chief David Lyons.

Butterflies

BETHEL – The Mahoosuc Land Trust will present a program on “Butterflies: Habits and Habitat” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the McLaughlin Science Center of Gould Academy.

Speaker will be Jerry Schneider, who was raised in Ohio, spent many years in Montana and resides in Vermont. Butterflies are his passion and he has presented programs for children and adult audiences from Vermont to Virginia and into the Midwest.

He serves on the Steering Committee of the Vermont Butterfly Atlas Project, which studies butterfly populations. This is the final program of the season’s Local Knowledge Series.
