PARIS – Registration is open for Central Maine Community College summer session courses at the Western Maine University and Community College Center. There will be two summer sessions: one beginning on May 15, the other on July 10.

The college center is located on Route 26, next to Oxford Hills Comprehensive Hills School, South Paris.

“Taking courses in the summer is a great way to get a head start on college – whether you plan to attend CM or another institution,” said Barbara Livingston, CM coordinator at the center, noting that the courses transfer to many other colleges and universities. “It’s also a chance to pick up some credits if you’re already working on a degree – or if you simply want to take a course that interests you!”

Courses that begin the week of May 15 will include “Understanding Business” (BUS 100-31) and “Speech” (SPE 101-31), which are offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings; “Introduction to Computer Applications” (BCA 120-31), “Technical Writing” (ENG 210-31) and “Sociology of the Family” (SOC 220-31), which are all offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings; and “Intermediate Algebra” (MAT 100-31) on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Courses that begin during the week of July 10 will include “Business Math” (MAT 101-31) on Monday and Wednesday mornings, “Principles of Marketing” (BUS 215-31) and “College Writing” (ENG 101-31) on Monday and Wednesday evenings; and “Interpersonal Communication” (SPE 111-31) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Some courses have prerequisites.
