PHILLIPS – Longtime Town Manager Laura Toothaker is recuperating at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington after falling Monday while hanging out clothes on her porch.
She fractured both knees.
“I’m fine,” Toothaker said Tuesday from her hospital room.
Toothaker, the town manager since 1970, is used to being active, but so far she remains in good spirits, taking the downtime OK.
She’ll be in the hospital a few days, she said.
With Toothaker out of commission, Phillips selectmen have arranged to have Ellen Bibeau, a part-time worker at the town office, to come in and open the office from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Selectman Steve Charles said Tuesday.
