Amanda Hill of Turner was honored during the Rising Students Ceremony March 23 at Lyndon State College, Lyndon Center, Vt., when she received the Danny Gore Family Scholarship in memory of Barbara Whitney 52. Hill, who is majoring in television studies/broadcast news, is the daughter of Alan and Rachel Hill.

The scholarship goes to a Vermont student majoring in television studies who has been nominated by the television studies faculty.

Ashley Joy has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the University of Southern Maine, majoring in occupational therapy. She is a 2004 graduate of Lewiston High School and is the daughter of Ann and Jerry Joy of Lewiston, granddaughter of John L. Forrest of Wales, Betty Harris of Brattleboro, Vt., and Jerry Joy of Macon, Ga., and the great-granddaughter of Mildred Forrest of Auburn.

Her brother, Andrew Joy, has been accepted to the Maine Maritime Academy marine systems engineering master’s degree program for the fall. He is a senior at Lewiston High School.

Brian Willette of Wales, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, was recently honored at the Programs Rooted in Developing Excellence Program for academic and leadership excellence in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University.

The program office is committed to providing programs that meet the needs of and foster excellence in the educational, professional and personal development of all students in the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Each semester full-time students who are active members of one of the programs /organizations that PRIDE represents are recognized for their academic achievement in various “circles.” At a recent reception students were honored for their fall academic and community leadership achievements.

Idin Dalpour, son of Dr. S. Waleck and Nahid Dalpour of Wilton, was named to the dean’s list of the Kongod School of Business at American University in Washington, D.C. Dalpour is a junior majoring in finance with a minor in economics.

He has also has spent the past year at Lydian Wealth Management in Rockville, Md., as a consulting intern.

He has been offered a position in the investments and capital markets training program at Freddie Mac, Washington, D.C. He has accepted the position as a financial analyst intern and looks forward to a career in the financial markets.

Students accepted to Thomas

WATERVILLE – David Dubois of Poland, Megan Ferland of Monmouth, William Moody of Livermore Falls and Lyndzey Melcher of Livermore Falls have been accepted to Thomas College. They will begin classes in September.

Dubois is the son of Joseph and Diane Dubois. He plans to major in communications with a concentration in public relations and marketing. Ferland is the daughter of Paul and Sherry Ferland. She plans to major in elementary education.

Moody is the son of Richard and Susan Moody. He plans to major in software development. Melcher is the daughter of Larry and Wendy Melcher. She plans to major in psychology.
