FARMINGTON – There will be a global warming and environmental health conference from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, in Nordica Auditorium at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The conference is free and open to the public. It is being organized by environmental author and former university professor Dr. Ilya Sandra Perlingieri, who writes “The Environment and You” for the Original Irregular.

Concerned that environmental issues are overlooked by mainstream media, she said, “It is long overdue that people become informed about the most serious environmental crisis that we now face. If people are brought up to speed, they can make choices. This conference is a step to help Mainers connect the dots.”

Dr. Peter Montague, director of the Environmental Research Foundation and editor of Rachel’s Democracy and Health News, will be the keynote speaker. Information will also be available from green businesses about sustainable and safe choices.

Organic food will be available for purchase.
