VFW meeting

LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at noon Sunday, April 30, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St. All officers and members are encouraged to attend.

The agenda will include election of officers, Buddy Poppy sales in May and upcoming programs. Eligible veterans wishing to become members should attend. Annual dues are $15.

Music of ’60s

LEWISTON – Rock music historian Barry Drake will present a multimedia presentation, “60s Rock: When the Music Mattered,” at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in the Benjamin Mays Center at Bates College, 95 Russell St. Sponsored by the Chase Hall Committee, the presentation is open to the public free. Fellowship

LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Merry Widows Fellowship will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 1, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. Fellowship will be followed at noon with a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.

Day of prayer

AUBURN – The Lewiston/Auburn Chapter of the National Day of Prayer will join with assemblies across the nation for a National Day of Prayer service from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at the Auburn Church of the Nazarene, 38 Summer St.

Participants will include representatives of the Lewiston and Auburn fire departments, police departments, local clergy, local teachers, students from Central Maine Christian Academy and the Maine Army Reserve. All are welcome. Call area coordinator Eric Larsen at 783-9656 for more information.

BOWDOIN – The Woodlawn Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at the West Bowdoin Baptist Church Parsonage, West Road.

GREENE – The annual meeting of the Valley Cemetery Association will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, May 8, at the home of John Fogg.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on April 24 were: first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Nancy Farmer and Richard Balian; third, Lucille Bilodeau and Paul Sherman; fourth, Helen Little and Alberta Turner; first in B, Eleanor Griffin and Paul Beegel; second in B, Eleanor and Lindy Wigton.
