On April 25, the Sun Journal published a letter from me detailing a rumored conversation between Sen. Al Gore and Lt. Col. Oliver North during hearings on the Iran-Contra scandal in 1987. It didn’t take long for some astute readers to point out that I had been hoaxed. I was the victim of an Internet hoax.

In other words, the conversation I was detailing didn’t happen. Never took place. I checked a little more closely and the Sun Journal readers were right; I am wrong. The conversation I reported did not take place and the next time I decide to shoot my mouth off, I promise to check my sources first.

I offer the Sun Journal and its readers my apologies.
