Dear Sun Spots: I would like to hear from someone who has multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome. People here where I live say there is no such thing because if “they can’t smell it doesn’t exist.” You know, if Ma or Pa never had it and so on. So they spray extra aerosol sprays and scents saying “she will get used to it.” Will you please correct them? – Anna M. Smith, Farmington.

Answer: Unfortunately, Sun Spots is not a doctor but does tend to have allergies to certain sprays and scents as I’m sure others do. She would encourage you to contact the Chemical Sensitivity Foundation based here in Maine. The foundation engages in scientific, charitable, and educational activities on behalf of people with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), a condition involving a wide range of symptoms triggered by exposure to many everyday chemicals like perfume, diesel exhaust, fresh paint, and pesticides. You will note chemical sensitivity information on those involved with rescue efforts in New York following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. Dear Sun Spots: I’m hoping Sun Spots can please help me. I have a cigarette burn on my truck seat and was wondering if there is a place in the Lewiston-Auburn area that can repair the damage. I also have another question: I have some grade-school pictures I would like to have made up but I can’t find anyone to do it. These pictures are 30 years old or older.
