TOWNSHIP 30 (AP) – A Bangor man drowned Saturday in a boating accident while fishing on a pond in Washington County.

Charles Ugro, 60, was fishing with Gary Doten of Eddington on Salmon Pond in Township 30 when their 10-foot skiff somehow swamped at about 10:30 a.m. and they went into the water, according to Mark Latti, spokesman for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Neither man was wearing a life jacket, but Doten was able to grab a life jacket that had been in the boat and make his way to shore about 50 feet away, Latti said.

Ugro drowned in waters 8 to 10 feet deep, Latti said.
