Red Sox reliever Manny Delcarmen was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday after four outings and a 9.82 ERA.

Boston said it would make a roster addition before Tuesday night’s start of a three-game series at the New York Yankees. Delcarmen pitched in Sunday’s 10-3 win over Baltimore, allowing one walk in one hitless inning.

Before joining Boston, Delcarmen allowed no runs in 10 innings for Pawtucket this year.
