AUBURN – Tom Edgecomb hurled four innings of one-hit baseball and received strong support at the plate to lead St. Dom’s to a 10-0, five-inning rout over Waynflete in WMC baseball action Wednesday.

Greg Labonte paced the Saints (6-1) with two hits and two RBIs, while Mike Carpenter and Andy Allen added two hits apiece.

Carpenter ripped an RBI triple in the fifth inning, while Labonte smacked a two-run single in the first.

The Saints are in the midst of a five-game week and have won the first three outings.

Peter Devine posted Waynflete’s (1-6) lone hit and was also tagged with the loss.

York 5, Poland 1

POLAND – Chris Knox smashed a solo homer in the fourth inning, leading York to a 5-1 win over Poland in baseball on Wednesday afternoon.

Knox also had a single and a double for the Wildcats (4-4), while Jeff Cole contributed two hits and two RBIs.

The Knights (4-4) were led by pitcher Joe Douglass, who settled down after giving up three runs in the first inning,.

He also ended up striking out seven batters in five innings and had two hits and scored a run

Lacrosse

St. Dom’s 15, Fryeburg 1

FRYEBURG – Tavian MacKinnon netted five goals and dished off an assist to propel St. Dom’s to a 15-1 victory over Fryeburg in a WMC boy’s lacrosse matchup Wednesday.

Ben Adams, Andrew Gilbert and Alex Pleau all scored two goals each for the Saints (3-2), while five other players registered single goals to complete the scoring.

Brian Kasabian needed only five saves to notch the win.

The Raiders’ (1-4) lone goal came from Matt Sander with an assist from Clint Davenport.

Mark Schwalenbury handled netkeeping duties, turning aside 12 shots.
