SARASOTA, Fla. – Theodore S. Barton, 83, of Sarasota, Fla., died May 6.

He was born in Keene, N.H., March 21, 1923. He came to Sarasota 37 years ago from Keene. He and his wife, Carolyn, spent every summer at Worthley Pond in East Peru.

He retired from the insurance industry and graduated from the University of New Hampshire. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.

He was past potentate of Sahib Shrine Center in 1985, a member of the Lions Club International, life member of the Elks and the American Legion. He was a Unitarian.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Carolyn; sons, Kenneth of Sarasota, Fla., Allan of North Venice, Fla., Dale of Loganville, Ga., and David of Gainesville, Ga.; sisters, Shirley Magnani of Clayton, Calif., and Barbara Jenkal of Marietta, Ga.; three grandchildren; a stepson, Allen Hawthorne of Largo, Fla.; and a stepdaughter, Sandi Fuller of Dixfield.
