PATZQUARO, Mexico – Paul Albert Havenstein II, 54, formerly of Lisbon, died suddenly April 22, due to heart failure aggravated by the high altitude and alcohol in Mexico, where he had been living with his father.

He was born in Newburgh, N.Y., Sept. 27, 1951, the son of Paul and Florence Havenstein. He was educated in schools of Syracuse, Los Angeles, Houston, Thailand and Iran, and graduated from Tehran American School in Tehran, Iran in 1971. He attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J.

He was a classical pipe organist and pianist and had performed all over the world. He was also an accomplished organ tuner and voicer and had assisted in the installation and tuning of the organ in the Crystal Cathedral in California, as well as many others.

He was a member of the American Guild of Organists and supported the Atlantic City Convention Hall Society Inc. in their efforts to restore the famous organs in the Atlantic City Boardwalk Music Hall.

He was a wonderful cook and loved all animals, especially his cat, Kitty. He was an avid reader, loved the outdoors and took great pride in his Datsun Z car. He was quite a character and truly marched to the beat of a different drummer.

He is survived by his father, Paul A. Havenstein Jr.; a sister, Trish Suthers and her husband, Mike, of Lisbon Falls; a brother, Peter J. Havens and his wife, Erica, of Phippsburg; and several nieces and nephews. He had many friends throughout the United States and will be sadly missed.

He was predeceased by his mother, Florence Havenstein.
