RANGELEY – Police Chief Phil Weymouth received word Wednesday that his department was awarded a $13,020 homeland security grant for a thermal imaging camera.

A representative of U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, told Weymouth of the award, he said Wednesday.

The fire department’s camera will be kept at the Oquossoc Fire Station, he said, and the police camera will be available for use in the central part of town.

It will be used in search-and-rescue missions as well as helping to find a hot body under the water or in the snow, he said.
