HOULTON (AP) – A New Jersey man wanted in connection with gang-related homicides waived extradition Friday before a judge in Aroostook County Superior Court.
Kareem Singleton, 21, of Trenton, N.J., will remain at the Aroostook County Jail while awaiting the arrival of New Jersey officials who’ll escort him back to his home state to face charges, officials said.
Singleton was the last of 11 suspects to be arrested in connection with a triple slaying in New Jersey, police say. He was wanted on a conspiracy charge, which alleged that he hindered the arrest of a murder suspect by driving him to Delaware.
Singleton, who was working at a Job Corps site in Limestone in a masonry program when he was arrested, is a member of a gang that’s believed to have been involved in the fatal shooting of a rival gang member, police say.
The same gang was also linked to the fire bombing of a house in Trenton last year that resulted in three deaths.
