PARIS – American Legion Post 72 will honor fallen comrades during the Memorial Day weekend. Church services will be held at the Deering Memorial Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 26. All veterans who wish to attend will meet at the post home on Church Street at 9:30 a.m. and go together to the church.

On Monday, May 29, the Memorial Day parade will form on Western Avenue across from the Oxford County Courthouse at 10 a.m. with a step off at 10:30. All organizations are invited to march, especially veterans. The grand marshal will be Hartley (Skip) Mowatt, who recently returned from a one-year deployment in Iraq. The equestrian marshal will be Harley Stevens. At the cemetery, short presentations will be made by members of Post 72, Ethan Sutton who will attend Boys State and Tia Pratt who will attend Girls State this summer. The Memorial Day address will be give by Sharon Jackson, Paris town manager.

Following services everyone is invited to the post home where the marchers will be treated to ice cream and coffee and doughnuts.
