LEWISTON – An Old Greene Road resident apparently lost control of his car about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, rolling across his neighbor’s lawn and into the side of his own house.

Richard Rioux of 131 Old Greene Road was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center at 6:55 p.m. Sunday, according to police. Nursing staff at CMMC refused to confirm or deny that Rioux was being treated, however.

Neighbor Amanda Hahn, of 130 Old Greene Road, said she saw Rioux drive up the street toward his house.

“I thought he was having a heart attack,” Hahn said. “His hands went up to his face and he just lost control. He went right by the guy’s mail box and right into the house.”

The car rolled past the mailbox at 127 Old Greene Road, leaving tire tracks across the lawn before smashing through some shrubs and striking the side of the house. The front end of green Chevrolet Tracker SUV was flattened, and the car damaged a pipe leading to home’s heating oil tank.

Police Sgt. Mark Cornelio said police were waiting for toxicology test results.
