OXFORD – Members of the Pine Tree Steer and Oxen Association have been busy working with their animals to prepare them for the first weekend in June at the Oxford County Fairgrounds.

It will be the first time many of the steer and oxen will be hooked to a drag to see how far they can pull it in the ring. There will be teams from every New England state as well as New York and Pennsylvania. Last year there were more than 100 head of cattle on the fairgrounds for the weekend.

The teamsters will start arriving and weighing of the animals will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2.

With several different classes, there will be lots of entertainment for all and the Oxford County Fair food booth will be open to serve hamburgers and hot dogs and homemade desserts and pies. On Saturday a bean supper with all the fixings will be served starting at 5 p.m.
