RUMFORD – A benefit spaghetti supper and dance will take place Friday, June 2, at the Eagles Club for Annie Rowe of Dixfield, who has lung cancer. The supper will be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. or until sold out. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

The dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. with music by the E&I Band. Dance admission is $7. Anyone who is unable to attend but would like to help may send donations to Meader and Son Funeral Home, P.O. Box 537, Rumford, ME 04276, in care of Annie Rowe.

Open house

MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will have an open house on Thursday, June 1. The building will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A ceremony dedicating the Ridlonville Rock commemorating the founding of Ridlonville in 1894 will take place at 2 p.m.

The Abbott School bell will be run on the hour and many new barn items will be on display as well as the classroom upstairs, which houses trophies and artifacts from past school classes.

A display of handiwork and sewing items is also arranged in the house. The society’s “jewel box quilt,” donated by the Ladies of the Lakes Quilters, will be on display and chances will be sold on it. Refreshments will be served from 1 to 3 p.m.

Museum open

RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society’s Museum at the Lufkin School will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, the day of the annual yard/plant/food sale on the museum lawn.

All members of the organization are asked to bring in items for resale, already priced if possible. The yard sale will open at 8 a.m.

Many of the plants are already potted items from Bill Weston’s garden – small trees, flowers, plants. These are all winter hardy plants that have already proved themselves to be healthy.

The museum has a slightly different dcor, as some of the exhibits have been rearranged from last year. The museum is located on Route 2 in Rumford Center.
