WILTON – The Planning Board met Thursday evening and approved the applications of two new businesses.

Jose Luis Aguado submitted an application to open a gift shop at 951 Main St. The application was accepted unanimously by the Planning Board. Aguado’s shop, called Missy’s Gifts, is expected to open soon.

Another application, submitted by George Paul Taitt, was discussed. Taitt’s digital imaging gift and apparel shop will operate at 319B Main St. His store will focus on photograph restoration, which includes reprinting and repairing old and damaged photographs. Taitt’s business will also print pictures onto T-shirts and other merchandise. The board accepted Taitt’s application unanimously as well. The store is expected to open in early July.

“Welcome to Wilton,” board member Irving Faunce said after the two applications were ratified.

In other business, board members heard from members of the Comprehensive Plan Review Subcommittee. Wilton’s comprehensive plan is undergoing review in order to “determine whether it needs to be tweaked or overhauled,” in the words of subcommittee member Peter Chamberlain. Other members of the panel include Sheryl Mosher, Conrad Heeschen and Tom Whalen. An 8 a.m. June 14 meeting was set to present the suggestions of the plan review subcommittee to the public.
