AUBURN – Fans of one of rock ‘n’ roll’s biggest legends are in for a treat. Yellow Brick Road, an Augusta-based band, will perform a tribute to Elton John at 9 p.m. today at the Midnight Blues Club and Restaurant. Tickets, $12, may be reserved by calling the club.
Formed in 2002,Yellow Brick Road has performed at several clubs, universities, on cruise ships and at music festivals.
The group is fronted by Gerald Brann, playing the part of Elton John. Besides Brann on piano, Yellow Brick Road comprises Doug Stackhouse on guitar and vocals, Joel Jolicouer on guitar and vocals, Shaun Bolduc on bass and Kevin Ostrowski on drums.
Brann has a degree in music from the University of Maine and has been performing professionally for more than 21 years. He has played with numerous bands in the region, including The Barking Spiders, Ultimate Sin (Ozzy Osbourne tribute band) and The Deal.
Stackhouse performs as Davey Johnstone. A native of Carlisle, England, Stackhouse has played guitar for more than 25 years with such UK notables as Wolf, Farenheit 451 and Boston-based The Moondogs.
Jolicouer has performed with several bands in his career, including Cry Baby, Zacc Tyler and Emerald Sky. He has been an active, solid member of the New England music scene for more than two decades.
Bolduc is currently enrolled in the University of Maine’s music program and has performed with the band Kenya Funk. Ostrowski, a product of the Pennsylvania rock scene, has been drumming for more than 20 years and has played in the popular rock band SunDog since 1994.
