WINDSOR – The 6th Annual Maine Fiber Frolic – Maine’s only fiber festival featuring fiber farms and fiber artisans introducing you to the life they lead through their art and through their fiber animals – will be held June 10 and 11 at the Windsor Fairgrounds.

The Saturday workshop area will feature many options, including “Charkha Spinning For Cotton and More” with instructor Barbara Clorite-Ventura. Offered will be tips and participants will spin cotton, and a little cashmere and guanaco, sample various fiber preparations and spin low, medium and high twist yarns.

There will also be rug hooking, courtesy of Elizabeth Stover; weaving with Elaine Easterly as instructor. Participants will learn about the tools and terms of weaving, experiment with patterns and make their first woven project.

Also, learn the art of needle felting, a dry felting process whereby you can create flat or sculptural artwork using roving or batts of wool.

There will also be sessions on producing natural colors from the plants growing in our native landscape, crocheting, knitting and lots more.

For more information, go online to www.fiberfrolic.com. All workshop descriptions and fees are listed there. Registration is strongly recommended for events scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
