RUMFORD – LaForrest A “Buddy” Vaughn, 75, died Thursday, June 1, at his residence on Penobscot Street, Rumford.

He was born in Dixfield on Sept. 13, 1930, a son of Archie and Helen (Judkins) Vaughn, and had attended Peru and Rumford schools.

He served with the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1949, and the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954.

He was a member of the American Legion and King Hiram Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, the Red Sox, making people laugh and putting puzzles together.

Buddy worked as a millwright for Oxford Paper Co. in Rumford.

He was married in Rumford on May 12, 1956, to the former Louise Wing who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include three daughters, Gloria Brown and husband, Robert, of Lakeland, Fla., Marie Richard and husband, Larry, of Rumford, Ericka Ducas and husband, Jason, of Bridgton; a son, Allen Vaughn and wife, Joy, of Rumford; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Nat Turner and husband, Louie, of Skowhegan, and Barbara Priest and husband, Mac, of Mississippi; and a brother, Dick Vaughn and wife, Hazel, of Peru.
