LEWISTON – Henry George Rodrigue, 85, of Lewiston passed away Wednesday, May 24, after a long illness.

The son of Ernest and Arsilia Binnette Rodrigue, he was born in Lewiston on Aug. 17, 1920. He was educated in Lewiston schools and was a resident of this community all of his life.

On June 21, 1941, he married the former Yvette Baril of Lewiston. During World War II, he served in the Pacific with the Seabees of the U.S. Navy from October 1943, until his honorable discharge in December 1945. While with the Seabees, he was stationed in Hawaii, Midway and the Philippines. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 22.

Places of employment included Bath Iron Works, Cushman & Allen, Stewart Williams, and Profano Brothers. In 1974, he then went into business (H & M Construction) with his son, Moe, where he remained until his retirement in 1988.

Upon retirement he and his wife enjoyed many vacations in Hawaii. In addition to the Hawaiian trips, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and visiting with friends at the local restaurants. Being with family and friends was important to him.

He is survived by Yvette Baril Rodrigue, his wife of 64 years; his sons, Marcel (Mark) and his wife, Claudette, of Lewiston and Maurice (Moe) and his sweetheart, Sandy White, of Stuart, Fla.; three daughters, Pauline Lunn and husband, Michael, of Lewiston, Anita St. Cyr and husband, Raymond, of Lewiston and Annette Clifford of Lewiston; eight grandchildren, Russell Rodrigue, Marcy Kennison, Tadd Kellett, Debra Butler, James Caron, Marcel St. Cyr, John St. Cyr and Jessica Rodrigue; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annette Falsco and husband, Sonny, of Jamaica, Queens, N.Y., Cecile Verreault and husband, Robert, of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Emile, Rudy and Raymond; and two sisters, Ida Caron and Jeanne Rodrigue.
