Tricia Tomlinson, in her letter of April 29, said she thought that the Department of Health and Human Services workers are impersonal and that DHHS should hold an annual picnic to improve client/caseworker relationships.

She wrote about losing dignity when she goes to the DHHS office because they holler her name out and don’t even shake her hand.

Hmmm. I lose dignity when I go to my doctor’s office – and I am paying the people there. They holler my name from across the room. I am never greeted with a handshake, and am lucky if I even get a smile. It depends on what time of day the appointment is. Then someone escorts me into a room and asks me to take my clothes off, just so I can sit and wait for a half-hour.

Wanna talk about losing dignity?

Maybe I should suggest to the doctor that she put on a picnic for all the customers.

Just imagine how horribly I would be treated by the people in the doctor’s office if I were there for free services.
