AUGUSTA – Celia Avis Ramsey Grover, 79, formerly of Livermore Falls, died Friday, June 2, at Gray Birch Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Augusta.

She began her life on June 14, 1926, a daughter of Sherman E. and Anna S. (Smith) Ramsey.

On Oct. 14, 1944, she married the love of her life, George Leo Grover from Jay. After 56 years of marriage, her soul-mate passed on June 30, 2001. Their first child, Lloyd Grover, died shortly after birth.

Celia was an independent, strong-willed woman who was protective of her family and not afraid to “speak her mind.” All who loved her knew that beneath that gruff exterior was a heart of gold. She found great pleasure in doing things for others, but preferred that no one “make a fuss” over her.

She was loved and will be missed by her son, Dennis George Grover and his wife, Carol, of Winthrop; her two grandchildren, Amanda Dawn Grover McBride and her husband, Michael, of Winthrop, and Jason Dennis Grover of Augusta; a sister, Edith Jackson of Livermore Falls; and nieces and nephews, Carmen Bruce of Batavia, Ill., Russell Jackson of Lisbon Falls, Mark Grover of Gray, David Grover of Dunedin, Fla., Diana Grover Merchant of Lisbon Falls, and Michele Grover of Jay.
