RAYMOND – Dorothy Edwards, 89, of North Raymond Road, died Saturday, June 3, at her home.

She was born in Raymond on Feb. 9, 1917, the daughter of Ernest R. and Keziah B. Small Edwards. Dorothy graduated from Pennell Institute in 1934, Gorham Normal School in 1938 and Boston University in 1943.

She was a schoolteacher, teaching English and math in Warren, Newry, Bethel and retiring in 1974 from South Portland High School.

Dorothy was also involved in the family farm, which was the last hand-milked dairy farm in Raymond.

Dorothy was past junior matron of the Sabbathday Lake Junior Grange, a past master of Sabbathday Lake Grange 364, past deputy of the Maine State Grange, member of the Pomona, state and national Granges. She was a member of the Maine and Cumberland County Teachers Associations, Golden Sheath Chapter 114, OES and Poland Community Church, and she volunteered at the Maine State Building at Poland Spring. She enjoyed strawberrying and her flower gardens and was an excellent cook.

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Berenice Edwards of Raymond; and cousins.
