LEWISTON – The 11th annual Androscoggin Business to Business Trade Show on June 15 will feature a wide range of events, from a kick-off breakfast and seminars to a reception featuring giant puppets.
The kick-off breakfast will feature a keynote address by Matt Jacobson, the president and chief executive officer of Maine & Co., the state’s marketing and business attraction agency. The breakfast will be held at Chase Hall at Bates College.
Jacobson will speak about his vision for Maine & Co., and what the state needs to be more competitive in attracting new jobs and business investments.
The trade show is the largest single one-day business show in the state, attracting nearly 2,500 people and nearly 200 exhibitors. The show sold out in early March, a record for exhibit space sales.
A number of free seminars are planned. The first, titled “Filling the WAGE Gap: Working Towards Pay Equity,” will highlight the work of the newly created WAGE Project ME, a forum where women come together for support, information, and strategizing about how to close the wage gap. Maine women earn only 76 cents to every $1 men earn in jobs with equal responsibility and experience. Anne Craigs, director of the Lewiston YWCA, has started the state’s first club, and will discuss the club’s goals and what women can do to work toward gender pay equity. The seminar will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Colisee’s new Shipyard Lounge.
At 11:15 a.m., a panel discussion on Crisis Planning 101 will consist of contributions by Steve McCausland, public information officer for the Maine Department of Public Safety; Russ Donahue, director of marketing for Sisters of Charity Health System; and Roy Hibyan, executive vice president of Operations at Androscoggin Bank. The panel will explain how their organizations deal with crises. The seminar will be held at the Colisee’s Shipyard Lounge from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Lastly, at 1 p.m., a seminar on Guerilla Event Planning will share the secrets of “Planning a Great Event Without Blowing Your Budget.” Presented by Laura Davis, a partner at Auburn-based Rinck Advertising, the seminar will cover how to plan, budget, and execute a memorable event.
A procession of giant puppets from the Shoestring Theater will help launch this year’s After Hours celebration from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
A business card is required at the door for admission. For more information, visit www.economicgrowth.org or contact Paul Badeau at 784-0161.
