BRIDGTON – Gloria Knight Peaco Thompson, 79, of Fern Street, Bridgton, died peacefully June 6, at her home, with her family at her side.

She was born in Bridgton, Aug. 21, 1926, the daughter of Samuel and Rosilla (Smith) Knight. She was a lifelong resident of Bridgton. A graduate of the old Bridgton High School, she was employed for 15 years at Stewart’s Cleaners, and 15 years for the Bridgton Shoe Shop.

She was a member of the Fryeburg-Lovell VFW Auxiliary and the Bridgton Fire Department Auxiliary. She did volunteer work for the Fryeburg Dinner Bell and Lakes Region TV. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeding the birds, yard sales and tending her flower gardens. A talented cake decorator, she made many $500 wedding cakes and gave them away as wedding gifts.

Surviving family includes her husband of 37 years, Stanley K. Thompson of Bridgton; two sons, Matthew M. Peaco of Harrison and William S. Thompson of Dover-Foxcroft; three daughters, Ronnie R. Peaco of Fryeburg, Aileen Peaco-Burkett of Bridgton and Jennie Freeman of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Russell Knight of Bridgton and Samuel Knight of Harrison; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Ronald M. Peaco; a son, John W. Peaco; and a sister, Katherine Sargent.
