AUBURN – Jeanne Marie Labonte, 89, of 113 Pride Road, Auburn died Wednesday, June 7 at Clover Manor Nursing Home, where she resided for the past 24 months.

She was born in Frenchville, July 5, 1916, a daughter of Honore and Malvina Gagnon Hebert, she was educated in Frenchville schools and St. Mary’s school in Lewiston

Mrs. Labonte was a member of the Auburn Catholic Community at Sacred Heart Parish and was married to Dominique Simon Labonte Sept. 5, 1936. He died Aug. 19, 2005. She was employed at Continental Mill as a spinner and later at Knapp Shoe as a stitcher retiring in 1981.

She enjoyed knitting, fishing, hunting, camping and boating.

She loved evenings with family and friends and especially visits from her brother George (Nel), where they would get together to sing for all the family and friends. Also she relished watching the Boston Red Sox play ball, and knew all of the players by name, jersey numbers and batting averages.

She will be remembered by all of her family as a strong, loving and caring wife, mother, memere and great-memere who always put their wants and needs above her own.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine T. Limoges of Auburn; six sons and spouses, Roger G. and Lucy Labonte of Shirley Mills, Raynald R. Labonte of Somersworth, N.H., Roland F. and Joline Labonte of Readfield, Richard M. and Joline Labonte of Lewiston, Marcel A. and Claudette Labonte of Bixby, Okla. and Norman J. and Sandi Labonte of Bangor; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Paul R. Labonte in 1976; and 11 siblings.
