As a dissenting member of the Farmington Fire Apparatus Committee, I want the taxpayers and voters to realize that there were several issues that were raised concerning the purchase of the new fire apparatus proposed by the Farmington Fire/Rescue. I am asking that community members join me in voting against this purchase until further options have been explored. Stop them “saving” the town money by spending ours!

I personally feel that this town has spending issues and that a purchase of unneeded apparatus at this time – high prices for oil, gas, food, etc. – can be seen as an insult to the taxpayers that are already faced with hard financial times.

As a Farmington taxpayer and citizen member of the Fire Apparatus Committee, it is not clear to me that it is in our best interest at this time to purchase this expensive apparatus and increase the fire reserve by $15,000 to $75,000 every year. I will be very much opposed to such a large purchase and increases without a serious look at other options for the town’s taxpayers.
