LEWISTON – June F. Grace, 74, died Thursday, June 8, at Central Maine Medical Center. She was a resident of Pine Street in Rumford and had lived in the area all of her life.
She was born in Rumford, on Nov. 25, 1931, a daughter of Lester and Leona (Peare) Sawyer. She attended Rumford and Rumford Center schools. She worked as a waitress at the Mexico Chicken Coop and more recently was employed in the housekeeping department and laundry room at the Rumford Hospital.
She was a long-standing member of the Pythian Sisters and master of the Pomona Grange in Rumford Center. She was very involved with community benefits and loved to crochet. She dedicated her whole life to her family and children.
She was married in Rumford on May 8, 1950, to Freeman L. Grace Sr.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen McLean of Rumford; four sons, Freeman “Butch” Grace Jr. and Frank Grace of Rumford, Frederick Grace and his life partner, Michael Auger, of Auburn and Charles Grace and his wife, Marjorie Swett, of Mexico; and two sisters, Madeline Littlehale and husband, Edward, of Andover and Ina Sawyer of Hallowell; she was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and her beloved friend, Georgia Fowlie of Bangor.
She was predeceased by her husband, Freeman, in Rumford May 6, 1983; mother, Leona; father, Lester; brother, Harold; sister, Josephine Perry; and brother-in-law, Albert Perry.
